Superintendent
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The duties of the Superintendent position are to supervise construction through scheduling, budgets and quality workmanship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform on-site supervision of sub-contractors and field personnel to ensure high quality construction is completed in a timely, efficient and safe manner
- Be able to read and understand construction documents including specification manuals and drawings
- Conduct daily safety inspections of job site equipment and hold weekly safety meetings with all job site personnel
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Coordinate the ordering and delivery of materials, supplies and equipment with the Project Manager
- Maintain professional relationships with OSHA, city, county, and state government officials and inspectors
- Communicate issues and schedule changes with sub-contractors and the Project Manager
- Create a forecast schedule to insure consistent work flow on each job with vendors and sub-contractors
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Manage Job Cost, Quality Management, Safety Management, Assign and Schedule Work, Utilize Software for Performance Management, Organization, Self-Development, Giving Feedback to Project Manager
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates at various job sites with a variety of weather conditions. This person routinely uses standard equipment, materials and supplies used on commercial construction projects.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move various materials up to 50 pounds.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or as directed by General Superintendent.
TRAVEL
Travel is limited – up to 75 miles from the company’s main office is considered normal daily travel.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED TOOLS, PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years experience working in construction management is highly preferred
- Knowledge to read and understand architectural, engineered drawings and related construction documents
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, mandatory drug screens and compliance with the Tennessee Drug Free Workplace
